The High Court Enforcement Officers Association (HCEOA) has launched a new survey as part of its ‘Supporting Court Users’ campaign, which aims to give individuals and businesses in the UK a better chance at recovering their debts.

The survey is open now and will capture the experiences and opinions of court users on the current state of the County Court system, as well as the possibility of allowing High Court Enforcement Officers to recover debts under £600.

You can fill in the survey and give your feedback here.

This new survey follows its ‘Supporting Court Users – A Right to Freedom of Choice’ 2021 report, in which 99% of court users called for a change to the County Court system.

Since the report was published, the HCOEA Board has been engaging with government about giving court users greater freedom of choice by allowing HCEOs to enforce regulated judgments under £600.

It is proposing the fees that HCEOs charge for collecting debts under £600 should match the non-High Court fee scale for debts of the same amount – they would be 100% in line with the current system.

Alan J. Smith, Chair of the HCEOA, said:  “We’ve had a fantastic response from court users and government to our Supporting Court Users report and are looking to build on our case for change with our new survey. We’re hopeful that, as a profession, we can use the collective feedback and evidence provided by court users to continue to campaign for this change with the Ministry of Justice.“
